Thanks evreyone for stopping to view and comment so generously....to answer Usman it was a 6 min and 39 second exposure, ISO 200, F 5.6 and 10mm Focal length ( A Sigma 10-20)... and big thanks to Betterphoto for choosing this image

I've been asked by a few people about star trails....I'm not that experienced at them (yet)....but here's a few urls to help..the only other thing I can add is take a good spotlight with you because it will be hard to line your horizon up so you'll need to find something with a vertical line in it...use the noise diffusion setting on your camera and take a heap of coffee

Nick, this image doesn't fit the cookie cutter landscaps that make it beyond a second prize on BP. Did that sound sarcastic, I'm sorry. That being said,this image is original in compostion and tech. perfect. Best landscape of the month - certainly deserves consideration for a First place or dare we say Grand-Prize.
