Okay, I give... what kind of technique was used here John? I mean hey, this is what my own clock looks like when I first peer at it with one eye open in the morning, lol. Was this difficult to do?

Hi Christine,
Most of this is effect is caused by an unusual lens. I took this with a Nikkor lens that was designed to make images of oscilloscope tracks on to Polaroid materials. The lens is designed for very close focus, and it is wicked fast at f1.2! The coverage wasn’t sufficient for my 4X5 camera so you get a round image because of the fall off. The depth of field is razor thins, so you see the difference in focus between the watch hands. The original transparency has an almost three-dimensional look, very trippy. I got the lens at a Salvation Army for about $30. Light is from the side, and I don’t think the watch had a crystal. Thanks! John Siskin
