Thank you Gerda. These floats used to be found in some quantity on beaches not far from where I live. They are much rarer now.

Very cool shot, Kathy! Looks like you were underwater yourself. Love the colors and the way the floats look like the sea water. Nice close-up!

Have you ever taken any of these home, Kathy? They look like they would make very pretty home decorations.

Gerda, I like your thinking! I was just about to say that I am sure I could find a way to use these somehow, somewhere in my house. Where can you find these for sale here in the states, I wonder? Wouldn't they make great lake-house decor! I'm on a misson now...

Kathy, "the right light" is an understatement. You can see the great lighting in the netting around the one ball on the right. Almost a fluorescence of blue/greens. Would also make a great pic for the bathroom -- very refreshing mood... Off to find my own Japanese fishing floats...

Piper,

Most likely they would be found in antique shops on the Washington or Oregon coast. The ones in the picture are for sale in the West Wind Gallery in Forks, Washington. If you'd like I can check on the prices---there's a cabinet full of them and I think they range, depending on size from $70.00 to $100+ for the larger sizes. I could certainly find out. KathyC
