Restoring faded 35mm slides

I would be buying a quality digital camera and whatever else is needed to restore faded 35mm slides and photos and save them to disk, print them if I wanted and view them on a dvd player or computer. What is the equipment and software needed. How do I learn to do it.Appreciaate your help.

Newer 35mm film scanners have a software called Digital Ice 3 that purports to be able to restore faded negs or slides. The Nikon Coolscan V is about $600. A digital camera is no solution for faded slides, but might be fun to shoot with.

Also, get a good imaging program like Elements 2 (if Photoshop for $600 is too much). The software lets you size your images for their purpose, crop them, tweak brightness/contrast, and fix blemishes.

Software for putting your pictures in a slide show are numerous, Flip Album CD being just one.
