New Photography Business Venture

I have decided to pursue a dream of mine and start a photography business. I will start out of my home and eventually open a studio. What equipment do I need to invest in first for this venture? I have a 35mm Canon Rebel EOSx with lenses and Sony DSC-F717 digital. What lenses and exteranal flashes are best for these cameras? Do I need a medium format camera? If so, I need information on that equipment also.Where is the best place to buy the equipment..lights, backdrops, etc. I am sooo excited about this adventure. I have been told that I should do this for years...so...here goes...thanks for your help and any advice you can pass on!

That's a good question. I have a Canon Digitsl Rebel, Canon 550ex flash and 6 Tamron Lenses. I've been thinking starting photography business on the side and I decided to start with pets. Taking portraits of peoples beloved pets. But do I start.

I began my own home-based photography business with just a Sigma SD9, one backdrop and two umbrella strobes. It has been VERY successful for me. You can read more on my website: www.shuttermom.com

Thanks and good luck!
