Photography Question

Straightening up a photo

I am not yet into digital but it will happen soon.I know we should all hold the camera at the right angle and not have horizons out of kilt and people leaning at 45 degrees etc.But on occasions one takes a quick shot of something(a dolphin jumping unexpectantly out of the water say) and of course the background is sloping one way or the other.....( the dolphin example is my excuse anyhow!). I spend a lot of time fiddling with the print trying to get everything right on the scanner to straighten up prints before scanning into files. How do you adjust for this with the digital shots? Also do any of the computer "Photostudios" etc allow you to straighten things out once in a file after scanning a print thats not orientated properly? Joe Terni-

There are several ways to do this, and the procedure will depend upon your imaging software package.
This link will outline a few:

Thanks again Bob,I feel a bit silly asking the question when it had already been answered in BP Q@A.(from the link you gave me...."How to fix leaning horizon").But I am relatively new to BP and havnt been through all the questions and answers yet and had not noticed that question and answer. It certainly looks like its no major problem getting correct orientation with the right software.I am just using software which came with my Canon scanner(photostudio5/7),and I think I can only orientate at 90 degrees at a time. But thats OK as I will be getting a more appropriate software when I go digital. Thanks Bob,and the main thing is it appears relatively easy to correct ....Joe Terni
