digital slr-cleaning mirror etc


I have a canon 300 D,I have an irritating tiny "hair" in my viewfinder,its not on images,ive cleaned the miror,and sensor,and tried to clean the bit above the mirror that gives the view through finder(slr bit)butstill get a hair or 2 in my view whentaking pics,is there a special way to clean,or do they do them at shops proffessionaly???any advice would be good,even the warnings about how carefull ineed to be

  Hi Nick.
If the hair is not on the images it's not on the sensor. Careful application of the puffer brush on the focusing screen (thats the bit immediately above the mirror with the lens removed)should move it. Also slip off the eyepiece and use your puffer in there too. If you can't shift it please visit your local (good) camera shop, most offer a professional cleaning service (well they do here in the UK anyway).
You must be VERY careful cleaning any part of the optical path particularly if you have the shutter open, avoid touching the sensor at all costs, I use a puffer without a brush to clean the sensor (EOS D60) and it's never failed to move dust specks.
Once you've got it clean, KEEP IT CLEAN, it's far easier to clean every time you get back after an outing than clean only when you can see the dirt.
