Medium format is just a film that is bigger than regular 35mm and is the camera type that uses that kind of film. Medium format can be 60mm x 45mm, and some are 60mm x 70mm, and other sizes.
Macro is a lens that allows you to get closer images that a normal lens. Some allow you to get closer than others, but any time you've seen a real close up of an insect, parts of flowers, a single coin, that's macro.

Medium format uses 120 or 220 film, this
then makes negs of 60X45mm(645)60X60 usualy measured in inches as 2 1/4 square, 60X70, 60X80, or 60X90.
Macro means an image on the neg the same size as the object. A macro image of a dime will have a dime sized image on your negative, your then normal 4X6 print will give you a pic of a dime at
4 times its normal size
