Flash distance with FP mode

Thinking about Buying a Canon 1v. They say it will flash sync. up to 1/8000 sec. with 550 ex. How much will this effect the flash distance. Will the 550ex figure the fast shutter speeds on the distance scale.

Toward the bottom of this page, http://www.usa.canon.com/html/cameras_speedlite/550exspec.html , is a table of the guidenumbers for various shutter speeds above the traditional sync speed. Note that the table starts at 1/125 because the 550EX can be used in FP high speed sync mode with all of the current line of EOS cameras, including the Rebels which have traditional x-sync of just 1/90. When used with the 1v the 550EX's guidenumber will be reduced only at speeds exceeding its traditional sync of 1/250.

I don't have one handy to check right now, but I'm pretty sure that the distance scale displayed when shooting in Tv, Av, M with the speedlight is corrected for shutter speed when in FP mode.
