Photography Question

Anna Jaeger

Desperately Need to Upgrade

I have a Minolta X-370 that I've had since 87-88. For years I didn't know how to use it unless it was on AUTO. I've since taken some classes and invested lots of time in trial & error pictures. Technically I'm much better and my 'eye' for scenes is pretty good. Though I've taken some really good pictures (good enough that I'm willing to spend a couple hundred blowing up and framing), I feel that a much better camera would help me out tremendously.

I don't really have a strict budget - I'm willing to invest $1,000 or so to take me to the next level. I'd like a camera that will give me a wide range of flexibility - I like landscape pics, but would also like to explore some close-up portraits. I'm also having a fun time capturing my active puppy on film. However, I'm much better at photographing still objects than a German Shepherd leaping though the air!

I have a Minolta 70-210 lens that I've used with success. Otherwise, most pics are shot with the standard 50mm lens.

All suggestions would be appreciated.

Anna
