Photography Question

Digital Camera

I purchased my first digital camera year (Cannon PowerShot A60 2.0 Mega Pixels). I carry this camera with me daily. It takes great pictures and all but now I see more cameras with more mega pixel, should I upgrade to a 5.0 mega pixel camera?

  He he he,
You'll hate me for saying this but why not just buy the EOS-1ds. Eleven megapixels sounds about right. J/K

Really though mega pixels isn't everything, It really depends on what you want to do. Some pros are using four megapixels and some are using even two. (Mostly photojournalists) If you plan on anything bigger than 8X11ish' then I would upgrade. Optics play a huge part though. Some lower pixel digital cameras that have superior optics actually have pictures that can be enlarged more. I really like the Nikon 5700 it is 5 MP and has superb optics. I can easily blow those up to 16X20 without problems.

Good luck
P.S. Canon Makes great digital cameras as well, superb optics too.

Ryan: Thank you very much for your response. Do you have the Nikon 5700? I presently use a 2 MP and it is good. My ultimate goal is to be a professional and I guess I want some of the best equipment.

  Sayana,
My father own's a 5700, of which I use. I like to take it on trips because of the size. It is a excellent camera, but if you are planning on going professional I would consider a Digital SLR. The Nikon line is great, but I would also consider the Canon Rebel that just came out. 6.3MP fully manual, and it is about 900 bucks! I would most of all consider a digital camera that offers ergonomics, ease of operation, full-featured, and has enough MP to enlarge to at least a 16X20. As a professional you will want your equipment to make you streamlined and efficent.
Remember the camera dosen't make the picture, you do. I have seen some excellent pictures with cheapo camera because the photographer really knew how to take pictures.

Good Luck!
