How to shoot pictures of dogs
I own a pet retail/boarding/grooming/training facility along with my sister. We are having pictures with Santa. I want to know what is the best setting to use when taking pictures of dogs with flouresent lighting.

(a) Use a digital camera and set the white balance under the fluorescents. (b) With film, if it's bright enough, shoot without a flash and use FL-D filter on the lens. (c) Fuji Superia with 4th color layer does better than most under fluorescents, but other color print films will give useable results if you rate them 1 or 2 stops slower. Ie. if the film speed is 400, set the ISO rating on the camera to 200. This gives more exposure to the color layers that are weak under fluorescents, and will better respond to correction when printing. (d) If you need to use a flash, you have to balance the flash's daylight with the ambient fluorescent light, otherwise your Santa and pets will be the right color, but the background will still have the greenish cast from the fluorescents. You can do this by putting a greenish filter over the flash, and use the FL-D filter over the lens. Sto-Fen's ( http://www.stofen.com/Info/index.htm ) Green Omni-bounce is available for most makes of accessory flash.
