Photography Question

delete pictures from memory card in new camera

My digital camera died and I still have pictures on the 128mb compact flash memory card. Can I safely delete them in my new camera? Will I have to format the card first, or will the pictures be available on the lcd screen to delete first? Thanks, Tom L

They may not be available to view on your LCD of your new camera to delete individually. But you should certainly be able to format it in your new camera! In any event, I don't think it will hurt anything to try it in your new camera. I know when I switched from my CP950 to D1X I just put the old card in the new camera and did a format without any problems. Of course they were both Nikons...and if your cameras are from different manufacturers I don't know what effect that may have. But I still think you would be able to do a format in the new camera in either case.
