Antarctic Shooting

I have won a trip to the Antarctic, and although I am a tafe student in my second year studying Photography, I would like as much information about this subject as I can get. 1. Does it matter what model camera I have? I have been told that my Pentax MZ5n wont work down there!(But I also have a K1000) 2. I really want to shoot Slide film for selling purposes, but one lecturer has said I should take print film also. I am affraid that I may get an unforgettable shot on print film, then cant sell it because of this. 3. How many sets of batteries should I take? they will drain easilly in the cold climate. If there is anything else you may be able to add, please do so.
