Big File Sizes Without Drum Scanning

I need to have file sizes in the 30-40 megabyte range for an online stock agency. Is there a way to do this without drum scanning everything? I am looking for something a little more cost effective.

Is this an 8-bit image(8 per RGB color) or a 12-bit? A 12-bit image is twice as big as an 8-bit. That's a big darn file. My Nikon LS-2000 falls just short of that with 2700 ppi scans (8-bit). The new Nikon Coolscan IV scans at 2900 ppi, maybe big enough and the more expensive 4000 model ($1600) scans at 4000 ppi. If you're really sure these folks will buy your stuff, or that your work is marketable, the Nikon 4000 might save you in the long run. How many images do you have to sell to make up $1600? Don't pay someone else to do what you can do yourself.
