shooting pictures of paintings

Hey, I just got a Kodak EasyShare DX4330 for christmas and im trying to take pictures of my paintings so I can make prints of them. Though the edges of the pictures seem to be bent, as if someone pulled the center of the frame. How can I avoid this? also, once I have some good pictures on disk, where is a good place to go to get good qaulity prints made of my painting? Thanks for the help!!

Some lenses distort at the edges. I would not be surprised if MOST lenses do not distort just a little. If it's as noticable as you describe, it's pretty bad. Try shooting in the middle of the zoom's range and/or step back so that the image is mostly in the middle of the viewfinder, not at the edges. Don't feel bad; an SLR lens I've always liked showed distortion at the edges when I shot a building from across the street at the same level. If you want good prints, shoot at the highest resolution your digital camera can deliver.
