Membership Renewal


When my membership was about to expire a few months ago, I wasn't sure if I wanted to renew. (We're all familiar with the issues that have become the norm at BP so I will not recount those here.) Then BP came out with one of its periodic 2-1 offers. That, combined with the fact that I didn't want to lose touch with the friends I have made here, prompted me to put aside my reservations, and renew.

Just recently, I learned that one of those friends has been trying in vain for weeks to renew his membership. The site won't accept his payment and BP won't answer his requests for help. I also tried to contact BP support on his behalf. It has been a week and I have not had a reply, either.

This leads me to wonder...is anyone minding the shop?

  I have had questions regarding my renewal in September. I have been sending BP emails and other notes to try to find out the right course of action and it has been radio silence from them for weeks now. It is quite clear there is no one watching form BP, we get slight attention during the rush to close each monthly contest but other than that nothing. This use to be a fine place to learning about photography but now it is not worth the headache and expense. I am very sorry to see this.

  I am so mad! My pro website was set to renew today and I followed a link in a recent email from BP notifying me to renew (they do still be able to send out notices to collect money!) and paid to renew. Before my renewal date even came up, my site went down. Nowhere to be found. And, of course, I can't get a response from BP when I e-mail them. I've just about had it. I'm wondering if my site is gone forever.....ALL my galleries....oy. So frustrating, and if I find out it's gone and they charged my card.....that will be bad news. Help!!

  Today I am so very sad about the state of terrible communication by BetterPhoto. Up to now I have been a long term member and participant of BetterPhoto.com. But that is going to end tomorrow when my website expires, The story behind this is sad. Last fall in September I won the grand prize for the month in the photo competition and I was so very proud of that accomplishment. The prize I was awarded was a one year free Deluxe website. I planned to use that prize to extend my subscription this year when it expired in September. I have been trying to contact BP for almost 2 months now trying to figure out how to use the free one extension I won. I have sent no less than 6 emails including responding to the mail notices I get from them that my website is about to expire. I have also tried contacting them through direct emails to the BetterPhoto support staff. So here I sit a grand prize winner and no one from BP is responding to my inquiries about how to use my award. This is simply no one watching the storefront for Better Photo. So my membership will expire tomorrow, but at the level of service we have been given lately it's not worth the headache if they won't even honor their commitment to the prizes they award. Best I can say is good bye and good luck to the rest of you, I will miss seeing your great images and sharing with you our joy when we won the various awards !

Big Hello to Everone!!

Wow it is so hard to know what to say. I have loved BP and all of the encouragments from my peers. I have not been very good about making positive comments back. When I have time to do it, the website becomes so slow it is just too frustrating. I had zero confidence in my work when I started. I learned so much from the courses and peers. I am so sad to see all of the problems that everyone is experiencing. I hope it sure turns around fast.

  So, what happens today, but my friend on FB tagged me in a picture that she liked. It was my picture! From a website called 'Season's Splendors'. He takes pics from Pinterest. Well, he said if someone sees their pic on there he will give them photo credit. So, I let him know that it was mine. And, of course, he asked for my website. Well, I know I sounded sketchy as hell to have to tell him that, yeah, I have one, but it's down. Grrrrrrrrr!!! I've had it!! So mad at BP! I enjoy all my picture friends here and enjoy looking at everyone's pics and have enjoyed my pro website being here as well...wish they would RESPOND! Sorry, I'm so mad. Lol

  So sorry to hear of all the problems that you guys are having. I still think that BP is a bargain compared to other sites although
i wish that the speed issue could be resolved. I remember that once my gallery had expired ( do to my procrastination! ) and once payment was received, all the original gallery came back in-tacked. Hopefully yours will as well. I know Jim relocated his family this past month. Maybe issues will be resolved soon.

  I'm sorry that he may be busy, but when I'm busy I still have to find a way to take care of my business. I renewed well before the renewal date. And the website disappeared two or three days BEFORE the renewal date. It's not a bargain if I have no website. This is the second time lately I've had an issue. So far, it's been a week with no response. If he's too busy moving his family, he needs to enlist some help. Or do whatever he needs to do. I'm pretty sure he won't be refunding me for 'time down' on my site. I've about had it. And sick of no responses. Ever.

I have tried to renew my membership but the site asks me to sign in which I do but it tells me my email and password are invalid (which it is not) so the only way around it is for me to create a new account but I am not sure if I will lose my present gallery. Has anyone else had trouble renewing and if so, how did you get around it.

Tammy's basic gallery is available . . . but her site, the one she pays quite a bit more money for, is not. Try clicking on the "Link" under her gallery, Tammy . . . Photography.com or something (can't see it exactly now while I'm responding), and you will see what she means.

  I'm sorry... I'm just now seeing this. Yes, my pro website: tammyferrenphotography.com is just gone! And they have never answered any of my e-mails to date about it. So, literally I have no option but to find another host. My 'basic' gallery is still up and running. That's how I'm able to get in here to the discussions. It is SO frustrating! I just don't understand the literal 'zero' communication from someone who is trying to give you money to renew their website. :-(

  Well, just an update. I still have not heard a word after many more e-mails to BP on my part. I have the confirmation e-mail from BP from 9/20 when I renewed my pro site that wasn't up for renewal until the 23rd. It went down mysteriously on the 21st, after payment. Hasn't been accessible since then. So, I guess they took my money and ran, so to say. Forewarning to anyone who has a renewal coming up. I can't believe they won't even respond to my e-mails regarding the matter. I had every single gallery in there I've done for the past five years. Just gone.

  Things are definitely strange to say the least. The August contest is a big, confusing mess. Staff Favorites were posted, the finalist round was skipped and winners were announced. Now the winners have been busted down to finalists and the emails say the finalists are for the September contest! BP is not responding to emails and people are losing their websites. In all the years I have been a part of BP I have never seen problems like this.

  If Joannie is correct and that was the reason Ken's comment was removed then it makes some sense. It would look better if there were a word of explanation, though, and I think Tammy has a good point - the communication has been very poor for some time now.

  Not long ago, BP customer service team used to be very prompt with their responses, I think I had last contacted them about a year back and got my issue resolved in time, don’t know what’s gone wrong of late though it appears that there are multiple things that are not working as expected but I would be surprised if no efforts are made to turn around things from his point. I would echo what Ann said, I still love this site and the people here as I haven’t seen anything better. I hope it never shuts down because even though I can’t afford to be regular here anymore or comment as much as I would love to , BP has become a part of me and it’s just so difficult to imagine a time without it.

John, I hope you get to hear from BP soon on how to redeem your prize that you are entitled to.

On the lighter side, by being absent from BP yesterday I missed the roller-coaster ride from Winner to Finalist and back to Winner again! :-)

  Dear God, so last night after two weeks of no responses I pulled the trigger and set up my gallery on another site and had to pay $150 in addition to the $200 I had already paid BP to renew my site that disappeared. Now, magically, my website has been restored. Still without a single communication from BP. And I'm out an additional $150........
