Portraits of women I'm going on vacation with my wife and would like to take pictures of her - she doesn't like my current work because it shows her double chin and crows feet around her eyes. Okay help me - I have two lenses: 28-100mm and a 100-300mm.

I generally like to shoot portraits at 100-120mm. To soften the wrinkles, avoid using flash and instead make the portraits with soft, diffused light. Overcast works well for this. Do not shoot her portrait in direct light, especially if it is coming in at an angle. It also often helps to overexpose one stop. To minimize the chin, get slightly above her (on a hill or steps, etc) and shoot at a slight angle down. This - along with doing whatever you can to make her feel completely natural and at ease - will keep her from stiffening up and pushing her chin down.

You can also use a soft focus attachment (screw on or Cokin). It works great with older clients and even younger people with acne.
