Well, be glad you are getting it at all...I have not gotten a POTD email in a very long time! I have written to JIm asking why and never got an answer. I have checked, unchecked and rechecked the boxes to get it. I miss seeing them every day along with the Snapshot...I can understand if BP is short handed with help..but if they are sending it to some members, it would be nice to send them to everybody who wants it and requests it...Hint Hint...:-)

I absolutely agree with you, Tammy. I also loved seeing POTD every day for the same reasons you did. After all, POTD is an honor to great pictures that are selected daily. I still look at the 7 POTD images every Friday but there is no excitement anymore. And yes, it seems like old news. There are a lot of good things which came with the new BP website but WEEKLY POTD is not one of them. And, of course, oversimplified galleries on the white background are another bad thing (at least for me). But this is a different story.

Thanks for bringing it up,Tammy, this topic did cross my mind few times . Yes, I think the significance of POTD has lost its luster since it became weekly and in the process I guess they are not even weekly anymore !! I don’t remember to have seen any of those mails from Jim in last few weeks and yes, It was something I used to look forward to seeing everyday as well !! Would be great if the process can be restored back – the way it was before – daily . I would love that !!

I'm with all of you! The name says it all. Photo of the DAY!! It was a big deal to look forward to and see the photo of the DAY with my morning coffee each DAY!! I barely notice it now that it comes out once a week. And it's not the same to skim through 7 of them at once. It used to feel like a big honor; now it feels like an after thought. Very disappointing. I hope this is one decision that Jim will reconsider. Since the images are still being chosen daily, how hard can it be to send out notification daily? Please, Jim? Pretty please??

After reading your comment I went back and unsubscribed, meaning to check the subscribe boxes again. When I went to check the boxes they were gone! I went to "My Profile>Notifications,subscriptions,and preferences>Subscribe to More BetterPhoto.con newsletters" Which took me to "To sign up for the photo newsletters, click the button on any page to "Sign Up" or "Join the Fun"...I proceeded to do just that, I signed up again...even though I have been a member since 2005...I got the generic email from Jim that a newbie would get asking about what kind of camera I used etc. but not a word about POTD or Snapshot ... I have not gotten any POTD emails in what seems like a couple of years and always looked forward to them also! I love the ones that are picked, but when I went to the archive page for them I saw the same names over and over. Granted they are all fabulous photographers and most are among my favorites, but what about all the other amazing photographers here that do wonderful work? It seems to me that whoever picks them has their own favorites and doesn't have time to look through the rest of the new submission? I realize nothing ever stays the same, things and circumstances change...but my 2 cents worth agrees with the rest of you, I loved the POTD the way it was before...

One more point here and it struck me after I wrote in this thread – There was a mail from Jim proposing the Weekly mode of the POTD and a survey was taken on that where majority of us had actually voted for weekly mode of announcement ( Jim had shared the survey result) and so the weekly ‘POTD’ came into being. So, if we want it daily again, that is a change request from our side !! We need to accept that :-) However, it is a different issue of even the POTD mailers not reaching all once in a week or the selection process itself not happening every week/regularly and that issue, in my opinion holds the key. I remember Jim had mentioned about some technical glitch earlier on this subject , not sure if they have found a permanent fix. So I reckon, it has to be a major change and would need some efforts -1 ) to bring it back to daily mode and 2) all that process that was in place and working when photos used to be selected from the current months of contest entries and published as POTD – daily.

Interestingly, I was getting the old weekly email of several images... I got Jim's email about "reply YES" -- but I didn't actually remember to reply -- and I'm now getting the daily POTD. So it all worked out fine, but I didn't actually Reply YES to make it happen...

The last POTD mailer that I got was in Sep,15 ( weekly version ), nothing since then and probably that is why didn't get Jim's mail as well. My POTD subscription is still active , have written to BP support, hopefully there will be a solution soon.

I wonder if there's a chance for me also to get POTD letters, or any kind of e-mail notifications from BetterPhoto? According to my preferences, I'm subscribing to both POTD and SnapShot, but haven't got any e-mails from BP in a very long time, and never get any notifications when someone is commenting. I kind of lost interest of this site because of that, but it would be fun to get back on the train. If not, I will leave when my subscription is running out.

Elivor...make sure that your preferences are set by clicking on the "pancakes" in the upper left corner then clicking "profile" then "notifications" then subscriptions. I finally got the POTD sent to me but not the SnapShot even though I have them both checked. Hopefully this will all be corrected soon. Hang in there!
