How do I keep white areas from blasting out? I'm using the Nikon D1x and I can't seem to keep the white areas(such as bridal gowns) in the scene from being overexposed and totally blasting out especially in direct sunlight. I'm using the flash setting in white balance and filling with flash and I have the contrast set to normal. How can I correct this problem?

Well you could always expose for the highlights. Meter the white and open up two stops.

I'm not a professional photographer, but I wonder at what time of the day you took those pics!...At noon is a no no!...Too much sun!...In the morning or late evening, and using a nice flash will give you better results!...And of course if you want to have better results do bracketing in all of your pics, more film but better chance to get all the pics well done!...
