Lenses

Recently I heard about some G series lenses. I would like to know more about these lenses and who manufacturers these. What are other series of lenses? How do these compare in their designs and perfomances? Would some one help me in this? Thanks.

If you are referring to Nikon, the G-series lenses do not have the traditional aperture ring, the aperture is set using the controls on the camera body.

If you are referring to Minolta, the G-series lenses are their high performance pro-level line of lenses. Per Minolta,
"Each G-series lens incorporates one or more of the following features: circular aperture, double floating and floating-focusing systems, Internal focus, Anomalous Dispersion (AD) glass, aspheric elements, and focus-hold buttons."
