Online printers

Is anyone doing their printing through imagekind .com? I just did a few test 8x10's (to try out the different papers they offer) and they arrived pretty fast, but alas, the packaging was not as robust as say, mpix .com, and all of the prints had a messed up/bent/wrinkled corner (in the same place) like they'd been dropped hard or crushed there. Just curious if anyone has ongoing good (or bad) experience with them...

  Hi Chris,
Love your work...
I use MPIX as well and cannot speak for imagekind. I have been happy with my images from MPIX but shipping companies are an X factor. I ordered a framed 12x18 print and the glass was broke which scratched the print & the matte. The frame was very well packed so I must assume the shipping company tossed or dropped the package pretty hard to cause the glass to break. I have also ordered frames from other manufacturers and they arrived in tact and weren't even as well packed as the broken MPIX one. At MPIXs request, I sent photos of the frame still in the box to show them what happened. I assume they are keeping stats on shipping problems/companies.
I would believe the shipping company is the cause but let imagekind know as they need this information to possibly make a change.
Carlton

Thanks, Carlton... I contacted them, and they are reprinting the entire order & shipping it out again, no charge. I let them know the specifics of how I thought their packaging (not as robust as mpix.com boxes) could use some beefing up... We'll see how the replacement order arrives...!

  Thank you Chris,
I love helping and giving back to my associated communities (local & online) which I know you do as well.
I will post a link on my facebook site about your ongoing work with the Cathedral's earthquake repair efforts.
Cheers,
Carlton

Thanks, Carlton; I appreciate that! They're looking at up to 10 years of repair work to get everything restored to a pre-quake state!

Just to follow up; the replacement order arrived, this time sent in a larger shipping envelope, and each set of tissue-wrapped prints was taped onto the cardboard insert, so they couldn't move around in transit and get their corners bent as before.

  Fantastic Chris,
I once ordered (4) 12x18 prints from MPIX and had them shipped to a person in SF who was hosting an auction for a friend with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). MPIX taped the 4 prints on a piece of cardboard inside the shipping box. The person doing the auction picked up the cardboard and sold the print. Another friend took it home only to find the 3 others prints hidden behind the one they bought and then emailed me. She then proceeded to post them online and sold the other 3 to other friends. The images yielded over 6 times the cost of the prints so I was stoked. Its also cool to visit my friends down in SF and see my images on their walls :)
Cheers,
Carlton
