Phello Photographers Club-Candid Phello

Candid Phello One of my favorite things about shooting with other photographers is capturing images of them at work. We all pull funny faces, roll around in the dirt, climb on random objects, all to get the perfect shot. Keep your eye out for an opportunity to capture an image of one of your fellow Phellos in action. Beware, they will be watching you as well.

This is one of my favorites because they have thousands of dollars of camera gear around their waist and they're shooting pictures with their phones!! :)

Tony - Hands down the best picture ever taken of me. I was at the beauty shop and a photographer was photographing all the stylists and my stylist says to him, "Why don't you take shots of a few of our clients"? So I was the guinea pig and because he was doing this for the salon and basically was being paid by the owner for rights to the pictures - they (the salon) gave me the RAW image. He even made huge posters for all of us but I'm not sure what I'm doing with that. I gave him an 8X12 metallic picture of one of my oil and water shots as a thank you. He has my business if I can ever get my camera phobic family to pose. His lighting was simple but oh, so good. Not bad for an old lady, huh?

Warning - I have lots more.

These are all great - the W. C. Fields prize definitly goes to Jeff.

You even managed to get a few of me without breaking the camera. Sorry I am so late getting to these - Have not even opened most of the shots yet.

Yes, a fun thread, for sure -- That is if I go very quickly past my candids and don't look. Very enlightening. Those should be banned. Now that I know that I actually look like that and no amount of Photoshop will fix it, I'm going to have to do something about it. Thanks for the wake up call!

And P.S. The last "Marty" is mine but the first one labeled "Marty" is really "Gerry".

  Awesome new additions Phellos!

JEff, I think your behind the scenes shot should be called " blue bear hanging off bean's backside" :)

I am a tad envious that I wasn't there with you guys. But thank you all for the images of each other, makes me feel I know you that much better.
An observation- it would appear that very few of you use lens hoods. When one reads Q&As on hoods there are inevitably comments on how they help remove glare etc but also how when your camera is swinging on your hip the lens is protected when you bang against a wall etc. Any comments?

That's an interesting observation, Peter. I think it was a fairly mixed bag on those that did and those that didn't. I always use the lens hood, and exactly for the reason you suggested. I've saved the front of my lens on a number of occasions. The one exception is the 8-15mm fisheye. At anything between 8 to about 11mm, the hood ends up in the frame.

And, Pete, we would have loved to have you there.

Great additions and again great photos everyone. Love looking through this thread and seeing all the shots.

Peter I always use a hood too. I have two lenses where I use a rubber hood which roles back one of which is my 28 - 135. This hood interferes with the shot if I am at the 28 end of the zoom so I have to roll it back on shots at the wide angle end.

Wish you could have joined us my friend but if the stars align correctly we may yet get another chance.

I have hoods for most of my lenses but I couldn't find two of them before I left for Vegas. Oftentimes, I don't have them on my lenses because I do a lot of manual focusing and the hoods seem to always be in my way.

Neither of my lenses have hoods. But I believe the lens I borrowed from Jeff did have it's hood on. :)

Yeah, Teresa, that 14mm has a permanent hood, you can't take it off.

I have hoods for most, if not all my lenses, but I rarely use them... I tend to love lens flare! There are times I wish I had the hood, but it usually at home.. lol

I was just thinking how much I was going to be missing all of you in DC and decide to walk down memory lane again from last year. It was so much fun meeting everyone, all of these shots really make me laugh. especially the one of our back side tony, I remember the three of us trying to get a shot looking down over the edge when we realized tony was getting his shots in....LOL I will really miss all of you....can't wait to see this years images of everyone.

Ditto, Rita. Although I draw some comfort from not having to see any candids of me floating around this year!
