Are you looking for critique, or just general comments? If you just want comments, you need to start commenting on other people's shots and sooner or later they will reciprocate..If you want critiques, there are some of the clubs where they specifically do that, so check for clubs in your member center.

Hi Wendy. I have found what is odd here on BP is the lack of community awareness as compared to other websites related to photography. Not sure why, it's a wonderful website with a presence of several notable contemporary photographers! Feedback in the forums tends to be sloooow, and literally all of the clubs you can join are dormant. For that, I am most dissapointed.

I agree with Carolyn, you may see at least some activity if you comment on others. If you seek out the clubs from your member center-check the status of the "last discussions" first before you wa$te your time. I've seen some discussions titled "Is this a dead forum??" or "anyone out here?"

I'm sure he's been reading the forums. I was perusing the other day and some BP members are complaining about editing of their post if a competing host website was named.

My feelings are it is somewhat difficult to manuver about the website as compared to others. Ex: once I "submit" this, I'll be re-directed clear OUT of the forum and then need to relocate the forums to continue participation.

There are a few nits about the website, like the "new" photos of the day or entries to contest pages are loaded with advertisements. Also, there is no "counter" for the number of comments recieved or how many times it's been favorited.

Thanks, guys! I have saved a lot of pics as my faves, but I have not had time to comment on them. I will try that. I'll also look for a club.

If you want a good honest critique, the best thing to do is find a few photographers whose work you admire and ask them for a critque. Be think skinned. You won't see too many critical critiques on this site because many get upset or downright angry if you say anything negative. A last point is when you get positive or negative feedback on a photo, look at the work of the photographer making the comment. Make sure their work shows that they know what they are talking about.

Best place for actual photo critiques is photo.net

I think there is a critique board here on BP forums as well.

The FFFP Club here at BP is active, alive and well. We have two primary activities. For abut 3/4 of the month, we submit photos for critiques and critique the photos of other members of the group. We are kind but also quite critical as we do not, in general, submit images for group evaluation unless we want help. Each month we have an in-club theme contest. At that time we have a 3-4 day moratorium on critiques and we submit our entries in the contest and vote on them. We also discuss our reasons for the votes we cast. This is a great group and any BP member is welcome to join but I would suggest you be willing to participate FULLY (ie both submit images for critiques and critique others) and HAVE TIME to check in at least once a day. If you are interested and want an invitation, just let me know.

If you can't make the kind of commitment that Nikki mentions, you could always ask for Critiquing in your images description. There are a few members who check frequently check out new arrivals.

Because the majority of pictures I see are those which are already entered into the contest, which makes me reluctant to critique them. However, if there is something majorly wrong (imo) like a slanting horizon line, I'll send a bpmessage saying something like... "If you don't get an EP on this, you might want to fix [whatever] and re-enter it next month. It's a wonderful image and worth reworking."

Nikki, when I get back from my Finger Lakes trip next month, I'd like to look into the FFFP Club. I can use the help!

We would love to have you, Kathy -- and anyone else who is interested. I didn't mean to come on quite so strong on the participation, but you really can't get the most out of the group's activities if you don't participate fairly frequently and fully.

Imo, there's no sense joining in this kind of group if you aren't willing or able to commit. So, I don't think you came across as too strong. As happens in life, your the values of you Returns depends on the value of your Input. I'm looking forward to the Club. Will you send me an invitation so I won't forget by the time I get back? Thanks, Nikki.

We have had several new members join us at the FFFP Club since I posted this information, so I thought I'd bump the thread to remind Kathy and also to let anyone else who is interested in exchanging friendly but straight forward and helpful critiques know about our group. Just contact me and I'll send you an invitation.

Once I finish editing the images from my trip (this week or so), I'll be answering your invitation. Right now, I'm just groggy! lolll

  Nikki,
I'm fairly new at BP and have been also looking for more feedback et al; would love to join the FFFP Club so if you could send me an invitation I would appreciate.
My experience with the clubs, even though limited, has rather been disappointing.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to participating!
