Nikon Camera Upgrades Due Out

I've heard through the rumor mill that Nikon is soon to anounce tbe long-awaited release of the D800 and D4 camera bodies.
The D800 supposedly will have inter-changeable sensors (color and black and white) along with HD Video capabilities.

Has anyone else heard any news about this?

The retail outlets have all sold out of their stock of D700 and D3x so it seems that the new models are imminent.

Heard anything about how the camera would open up and how the sensor would come out, supposedly?
I guess if it had that, it's better to have a sensor not record for color, than to get rid of color info from a color file. Doesn't initially sound too practical for walk around shooting, to change sensors while you're out and about.
But that may not even be what their intent was.

Taking a WIIILD guess they may have one of them out out by Spring. The other they may save until Photokina in September.

I do like the idea of having a B&W sensor available. You would definitely have to change the filter in a very clean place and outdoors isn't one of them. That is unless they have figured out a way where the sensor can be changed safely while on the go. The B&W sensor is a milestone in itself. However I would wait for the bugs to be cleared out before I would purchase one.

From what I've been able to gather, the B&W sensor-swap thing is something only an "authorized Nikon service facility" would be equipped to do. They may be setting the groundwork for future innovations though.
(...or maybe, they're anticipating the enthusiastic folks who try to save a few bucks and attempt to change the sensors themselves, then they'll clean up on the repair bills.) :)

Anyway...
Japan's earthquake and tsunami may have thrown in the proverbial monkey wrench but something appears to be coming soon from the folks at Nikon.
