Question & Suggestion I was wondering if anyone knows why all awards (EFP's, Finalists, etc) aren't tagged with the date that member won the award. I know with a little research you can determine the date, but why aren't they listed along with the button? Also, I wonder if any thought has ever been given of adding a collected works category to the contest? I know we are supposed to only submit one photo per day, but what about a category that includes, say 5 photos that show a particular grouping of photos that have the same theme or maybe show different perspectives from one photographer. My suggestion isn't fully developed but I'm just throwing the idea out there.

Hi Don; since the photo's title and caption are the control of the user, BP would have to modify one of those to insert the text when winners/finalists are revealed, or else design screen space into the gallery display format to store that information. The "badge" graphic could show this info, but they'd have to recreate 48 badge graphics a year (Finalist, 2nd, First, Grand) not to mention Picture of the Day badges. You'll find many users will add the Month/Year/Category of their win, to their photo's description. If they don't, it is often very easy to tell when it won, based on the photo's discussion thread. (Though that won't reveal the original category always.) Some members may not display comment threads in their gallery layout, and may not date their wins---perhaps wanting to exclude any dates to their display gallery & badges, so as to avoid viewers thinking their images (albeit, winners) are "stale"... The contest has been pretty 'stable' for the whole 5 years I've been here... no category changes or overhauls (other than the variable Monthly Theme) or general structure changes. (A paid-entry, cash-prize contest was tried out for a short while, then retired.) I'm not sure you'll see a change like you're suggesting; BP already has to process & judge 17,000+ entries every single month! ;)

If you have a group of images you want to show to back up or go along with your posted image, you can always include those images in the discussion thread of your image...many do this and it is a way to achieve your goal.
