Photography Question

Kathryn Wesserling

EFPs and Resubmissions

Is it a common practice to re-submit images to the Photo Contest (especially, if it already received an EFP)?

As I always submit from my Pholio, should I reload another version (and changed title) to my Pholio, or just use the one that is already there?

Btw, what a joy it is to see other current entries, and EFP awards as they happen. The experience teaches me and also keeps the 'spark' alive within me.

If you really believe in a photo and want to to go further it's fine to resubmit even if it already got an EP. You should re-load another version only if you want to rework it. People also will resubmit finalists in the hopes that it will go on to get gold.

Thanks, Jessica. There have been a couple of comments here and there that made me think resubmissions are a reality. However, I never saw any concrete info on doing so, so your reply is much appreciated.

Definitely resubmit. I've had many resubmissions go on to win, sometimes on the 3rd or 4th try. I've even heard of one 2 time loser to win grand prize on its third time through.

Thanks, Carolyn. With the EFP's I had wondered if resubmitting just confused the issue. It appears that it's as much a matter of timing as anything else (IF it's a good image to start with.)

I've often wondered about this myself. I think next month will be resubmissions only... just to see what happens!

Actually, I just resubmitted two images this past week. One already had an EFP, but the second one did not (although, it picked one up today.) Seems like someone wrote elsewhere that you couldn't tell if an EFP resub would be picked again unless it moved up to Finalist status. Am also reading that quite a few of the July Picks are for resubs. Sounds like it's worth the effort.

I do a resubmit now and then, but I always save them up and have a resubmit month in February...not much to shoot that time of year anyway.

Kathy, you do have to wait at least until the following month to resub. You cannot enter the same image twice in the same month unless it has been altered. Just wanted to clear that up.

Thanks, Melinda - I'm working hard on keeping a clear record of what I entered when, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Probably the only problem I have at BP is navigating my way to answers. My solution is to have a zillion bookmarks to specific screens, but if you don't know the 'right' question, it's sometimes difficult to find the answer. When other members take the time to provide info, it really helps.

Kathy, dont work too hard at it, BP made it easy for you. The same place you enter photos, there is a link to current entries. Also, unless you change the filename, it wont let you enter a same image in one month anyways.

As for resubs, this month has been a banner month for me. All but two of my ten EP's are resubs, some for as many as 5th month entry. I now have then for the month and for me, that is a record. A few more, and I will have doubled my total in this month alone.

Thanks, Jesse - I need to keep track, because I have visions of me, clicking over and over until one is not a duplicate try! lolllllllllllll

Congratulations on all your EFPs! It's sure been exciting and uplifting.
