The EPs (same as Editor's First Picks) are the 1st round of competition. Assuming 20,000 images are loaded to the contest each month, I bet 1/3rd make it to the 1st round..so roughly 6,000+ for the month. Basically, a LOT of photos get the EP badge.

So there's no ryme or reason? I ask, because even though it says I've been a member since 2001, I think I joined free and forgot about it until this month. Then I paid and started putting pictures up and in the contest. I got 2 EP's this week...a huge surprise..I actually don't know how to use any type of photo shop, (but will learn) and am as new as you can be..so should I be pleased or is this a pat on the back? Love this site, so many good people..so no matter what will stay to learn..just wondering, because there are so many amazing photos out there!
