Photography Question

Emily M. Rosson

Need some posing advice....

Wasn't sure what topic to put this under. But I need some advice. I have booked a photo session in April that is a family session of 17 people. I have never shot a group that large I know they are wanting some shots in there Easter clothes and some in jeans and matching shirts barefoot. Does anyone have any creative ideas on posing this many people. This is going to be an outdoor session and I don't want it to be a bunch of formal type poses. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have looked on a few websites and the most I can find is a group of 7. Thanks for any advise.

Something on a nice patio or close to a nice flower garden may work. Make small subgroups within the composition based on their relationships. Put the elders in the center.

  Hi Emily,
Bring a ladder and shoot them from above. It will give you a different angle and you will be able to see all of them. Thanks, John Siskin
