Could I get everyones opinion on something? Wasn't sure what category to put this under so hope this one is okay. I do a lot of digital darkroom photography and there is this man in the photography club that I am in. He checked out my galleries, and he feels like a lot of my photos are over the line of being photography and gone into art.Thought this would be the best place to ask with all the photographers that are on here.So didn't know if anyone could check out my galleries, and give me there opinion I would appreciate it thanks.

It looks to me like you have a balance of both art and photography. KD

I think as the photographer, your opionion is the only one that matters. You should do what you enjoy and leave it at that. There is no rule.

I'm with Dennis. Who cares what he thinks..If you love them, that's the way it should be. And who says photography isn't art? All of your work looks just fine.

Seems like the editors also pick the ones that lean more toward art than the ones that are straight photographys.

Photography is art in my humble opinion! Photography=Art=Beauty and Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Like the others above have said......do what you enjoy! I'm wondering why you want to know the answer to such a question? Are you thinking that you are not a photographer because you create art with your camera and computer? :~)

Wanda, some people think "photography" is what comes "straight" out of the camera...so to them, images that are drastically altered in Photoshop; e.g., flood, flexify, etc etc are art. Some purists think that even adding a little contrast and saturation cross the line. Like everyone has already said..just enjoy what you're doing...all your photos originated from your camera...and that's photography to me!

It comes down to the end usage. If you're a photojournalist, you shouldn't do more than simple exposure corrections/dodging and burning. If your taking something you want to hang on your wall, the skies the limit. You should do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Seems to me that you have a guy in your photo club that is a bit uneducated about photography and art. Your work starts as photography (often art on its own merits) and ends up as something perceived as art by others. So many people are really clueless to the concept that photography is art. Jeff
