Are you actually starting a thread? Jeepers. The 5D is nice for the ladies(got one for my ASSistant) because of the wieght, but really, do we need the info? Every camera has its quirks and perks. When I first started with digital I had a good 20D and a bad 20D (which I threw to the wolves). Good eggs and bad eggs whats new. You good, me bad. teeheehee

Thanks Greg, great info link. I was wanting to upgrade my 30D to a 50D, then changed my mind from all the bad press on the 50d. My next choice is the 5d mark II. Now I will keep an eye on these problems before I drop the $.
appreciate the link.

  Interesting.

One would think Canon fully tested this camera prior to release. Guess not.

Derek can 1) apparently decadently afford to "throw" a couple thousand bucks "to the wolves", and 2) doesn't care one whoop what kind of gear his "assistant" uses (nor, clearly, what quality images she can create with them).

I.o.w. Derek unnecessarily and willfully overcharges his clients, delivers less than possible image quality images, and doesn't care about any of it...

It'd be interesting to see how long you can keep a photo business going with that arrogant mentality.

Nikon buyers are upset with Nikon about the price of their 24MP camera.
Canon's highest pixel cameras have always been $8000. But since the 5DII being priced at $2.5(think that's it) with 21MP, guess that made them expect the same price level.
So it'll be interesting to see what happens with the 1Ds.

Canon says they have solved these problems with the 5D Mark II.

Here is the link:http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=215&modelid=17662

Well if two cases make a pattern, just that this is the second time for Canon to put out a camera and not have it working on all cylinders.
Although like I said that two cases may be not be able to be called a pattern, some things you think are so basic that I just don't see how companies will put out something that isn't fully working right.
They gave the camera to pros to use for feedback, and the ones off the shelf are supposed to be made the exact same way. Not one of the beta-testing pros had any noise problems, yet several public consumer buyers having noise problems right away is something that I'm just not buying as completely accidental.
