Mystery brand name. But I'll go out on a limb(actually, more like stepping off a curb) and say you won't find any good experience. And even if you do, consider the source.

Sorry. The Subject line was truncated. The brand is Phoenix. There was one positive review on B&H and one negative so I was just wondering if anyone had used the lens. Thanks Joyce

Disclaimer: I have never used this lens. However, I am familiar with other Phoenix lenses. What can you expect? Most likely something that approximates an inexpensive spotting scope. Don't expect much in the way of contrast or resolution, and don't be surprised by noticeable chromatic abberation on contrasty edges. See http://www.photosig.com/go/forums/read?id=229551 for some users' first-hand experiences. Let me ask a better question: what are you trying to do (besides use a 650-1300mm lens)? For the money you're going to spend ($300 +/-), if you want a long lens you're far better off picking up a used 1000mm mirror lens, like one of the ex-Soviet Rubinars or MTOs. As a confirmed member of Lens Buyers Anonymous, I own both a Rubinar 1000/10 and an MTO 1100/10.5 mirror lens. I will tell you that the optical quality on these seems to be as good, if not better, than my Swarovski AT80 multi-coated spotting scope ($1200). However, taking good photos with mirror lenses is an art in itself... or actually, requires good technique. Lots of light, high ISO, and a sturdy tripod all help.

That sounds like a VPO lens. (translation...:Very Poor Optics)) Remember that there are no shortcuts to quality and you get what you pay for.

Don't worry, Oliver... you're safe. Where do your models live? :-)
