Photography Question

Owner's Manual Quantaray 70-300mm Lens

This lens came with my Canon Rebel and I do not have a clue how to use it for close up images (macros). When I want to get a close up shot of something where do I place it in relation to the subject....example a flower, a spider etc...? Please help.

  welcome jennifer,
somewhere around 3 feet away.i'd say toy around with the manual focus and see where the minimum focus point is.
the macro thing is,well bunk.not 10 inches?ok?

Thank you Sam! Just tried it and about 3 feet works! I hope to post some photos soon, they will be my first ones though, so not very good. THanks for the help! Jenn

  lesser news jenn,
macro and a 70-300.not really.even on a tripod.remote release..just not really.
close up,screw on lenses, offer a cheap route.but very finnacky and depends on the lens used, only ok.
kinda like hitting your head on the wall and believing the lens says macro?
well no!!
in my opinion,it's an outright lie.but with industry standards it's the norm.
since I don't even play a regulator on tv,i can't change things.
well, what do you want to shoot?
sam
