Photography Question

Sherrye Nozaki

How do I get three photos into one?

How do I create a photo with 3 photos (all the same size) only separated by a black background.

I have PSCS2, Elements 6.0, Corel, and Picasa. Now I know with all of those you'd think I'd know how to do this. I have tried to create a collage, but it won't give me the set up I want. It's kind of like when you see three photos in one frame kind of thing. So it's not really a collage. That's three photos in one frame separated by a mat cut for three photos

Have you tried any photoshop actions? I have an action for a storyboard, which is what I think you are talking about. It works great. Just do a search for Photoshop Actions and you should be able to come up with one, possibly a free one.

Well, I worked on it for over 4 hours and still can't come up with what I want. I tried Photomerge that's not what I wanted. I think I need a template. I'll keep trying.

Thanks everyone.

Sherrye, I may have gotten this action in a package I purchased. I have several free ones and one set that I bought. I am at work right now, so I can't look and see which this was. I believe this was part of a package from Jibz actions. I bought the package on line and downloaded the actions, I think the whole package I got was $29.00. You may find a free one though. It is very easy to use, you open your three photos (make sure all edits are complete), size them to 5 x 7 and then run the storyboard action and everything is put together for you. You can choose horizontal or vertical with a black or white background. It is really a lot of fun.

She can find a free one, so to speak because she already has it, with cut and pasting on new background.
You can crop all your photos to the same size, and then with the background color as black, make the canvas size of all three bigger.
Then just add each one together, and you have your trio.
With 4 programs already, why spend more money.

Sherrye, I agree with Greg's answer. Just to tweak it a bit, determine how much background you want around the outer edges and between each image. Then, creat a new image, filled with the color of choice, then cut and paste each image onto the new image. Use the guide lines available in photoshop to set the precise location of each image.

I understand what you guys are saying, but personally if I can find a free or inexpensive action that will do this for me, I will always take that route. Spending hours on the computer to work through all the steps is torture to me. Some folks love that kind of thing, some don't. I am definitely a don't!
