Image Size Rule in Contest Hi all :) Can you tell me what this means to you: "You have chosen to upload 1 photo . We recommend that you upload photos in the JPEG format, no smaller than 1600 pixels on the long dimension. " I am unsure if it was my imagination, but a day or two ago I left comments on some HUGE images here at BP. So- I read the above comment where I upload images and guessed that BP had changed the new image size?

Hi Jes :) Thanks for pointing to that thread. I did read it. However, I guess I am a little confused still. I actually saw the images displayed HUGE in the contest a day or two ago- and I no longer see that. I am wondering why I need to upload at 1600 if it will still be displayed at 800. OR- if I really even need to upload at 1600 at all if the image still shows up smaller. That is twice the size! I guess for now I will stick with 800, unless I see the images showing up at the full 1600 size in the contest again.

Yes, it is confusing! I noticed it after uploading the last contest entry of the month in a TIFF format!! However, I see the image all right here and hoping that it remains as a valid entry in the contest.

For my BP submissions, I'm used to submitting in TIFF, at about 500 on the short side or, as of recent, either 720 or 800 on the long side. The past couple of shots I've attempted to upload in JPG, resized to 1600 (according to the new rules), are showing up grainy. Has anyone run into this? Is there a way to resize, in accordance with BP's guidelines, that reproduces well when uploaded?
