Photography Question

Wedding Photography

The people here at BP are so willing to help and I have yet another question and need help. I work with a lady that's getting married May 19th and she wants me to be the photographer. I've only shot one wedding, for my Aunt a few years ago. It turned out okay for my fist time, but I only charged her $35. Since then, I've upgraded my equipment and have more expierence w/ photography in general. If I decide to do this I'll edit the photos that I take and put them on a CD for them to print the ones that they wish. I have no clue how much to charge her! I don't want to feel like I'm over charging her but I don't want to do it for free either! The wedding will be held in a city that's about 30-40 minutes away. I'm guessing that it'll be a pretty small ceremony. I'll get my sister to come along w/ me to help with the reflectors and anything else I will need. I have a Canon 40D w/ 28-135mm IS lens and 70-300mm lens. I also have white, gold and silver reflectors and a Canon 420EX flash. I will greatly appreciate any and all tips and advice that anyone can offer. I have people who have seen my work (I normally just do pictures of my newphew and neices) and am constantly asked to take portraits for people. I really need to seriously start doing this for extra money but I really don't know where to start.

  Hi Amanda,
I would check out other photographers websites in your area and compare your ability. That's a good place to start to figure out package prices, or just a base price. It also depends on where you live, I live in a small town out in KY, photographers out here charge probably 1/2 of what photographers charge in Louisville ( a large city about an hour from here). Good luck and have fun!
