Tashika 35mm camera

I see a camera online (ebay) that is described as "Tashika 35mm SLR type camera, 50mm zoom lense". Does anyone know anything about "Tashika" camera's?

Thanks - Corrie

  Corrie,
What do you want to do with this camera?
for $21.00 you are getting a low grade disposable type camera.
there is really nothing else to say.

I was just looking for an economical 35mm camera for my husband. What do you mean by "disposable type" Is it not a camera to reuse? Do you know of a website I can find a review on this brand?
Thanks -

I have really searched and have found no info on this camera.
There is not even a review on ebay for this camera.
I did find search ads that refered to this camera as agive away with other products purchased from companies.
what I mean from disposable is when it brakes in the first couple times you use it-throw it away!
the glass in the lens and the body are most likly not worth what you would spend on buying and developing the film.

here ya go ends in 45 mins $27.00:
Canon EOS Rebel G11 Film Camera 35-80mm w/ case NR :

Thank you very much! I appreciate the input and will look into your suggestions above. I have tried to bid on these items (like them) and the bidders are so numberous and set automatic bidding up on them that I just keep getting bumped.

Thanks again
Corrie

With all due respect to Debby, please allow my 2 cents worth Corrie.

Buying a camera for someone else is a bit difficult because more often than not, it requires a subjective decision on the part of the user, i.e., your husband, and his personal preferences for things like how it feels, how it operates, what his plans for photography are, digital vs. film, accessory availability, ease of use, whether parts are available, the quality of the optics, etc., as well as price.

The AE-1 is a good choice. So are Nikon F2s, among other 35mm film cameras. But buying on the Bay can be problematic if you don't know what you're looking for, it's true value and what questions to ask the seller. For example, let's say you get your husband a Tashika and he wants high quality lenses or interchangable lenses. Are they available? Who sells them?

Perhaps initially you should consider a reputable used equipment dealer like KEH.com. They guarantee what you buy for at least 30 days. Or, consider taking your husband shopping to a local camera store to determine what he's interested in. Let him try some out. The larger the neighborhood camera store, the better usually and you'll likely get technical support there if you need it.

Lastly, there are lots of articles/threads here on which camera to buy. I recommend you take a look at them if you haven't already.
Take it light ;>)
Mark

Thanks Mark, you are right. We have looked at some but as you can tell we are little worse for knowledge on this. I did look at your threads, they were easy to find, and they were in fact quite helpful. You guys have really given me a lot of information in a few days. Debby has been more than helpful. I did get caught up in the moment and found a Minolta Maxxum 5 with a Tamron AF 28-200mm lense. I looked it up on your threads and found that it might be a decent starter camera. The lense supplied is not the standard but varies from 1.6 ft to high power zoom I think. I could not find a lot on the lense clarity because I am not sure which version it is but I am hoping for the best. I will probably need some input on some of the functions if that is OK after I get it.
Thank you very much and we are excited about our new adventure in amateur Photography.

Isn't it possible that the original camera in question is a Yashika and not a Tashika?

Thank You Sarah, for suppling that link.
I had never heard of the TASHIKA listed in the ad link above
(sorry I wasn't clear).
But Corrie went on to buy a Minolta Maxxum 5 , which is good they'll have a easier time expanding thier goals and intrests with a name brand camera with all it's available lens, and options.
I'm sure we'll be hearing more from them.
welcome Corrie!to a very expensive but rewarding hobby.

Thank you! I did see some confusing remarks about the TASHIKA maybe referencing the YASHIKA, but never could get it clear. I did purchase it for 30.00. Yeah I know I was jumping out of the shoot too soon. I am going to play with it and see what it does. My Maxxum camera is in route and I will be talking to you soon.

I saw this question and was almost the first to comment on it. However, I'm a beginner and just didn't know how to lead except to say that it would not be recommended to buy the Tashika.

When Debby chimed in I KNEW it would end WELL for Corrie and just "kept my mouth shut." :)

Corrie ENJOY!!
