k10 firing strobes

My Pentax ist*d has a PC sync connector, which works great with my Britek light kit. However, I recently purchased the K10, which does not have the sync connector, so I'm stumped on how to fire the strobes. I bought a generic hot shoe adapter, but it doesn't seem to be compatible. Admittedly, I'm clueless, so I won't be a bit surprised if someone comes up with a really simple answer. In fact, I'll be extremely grateful! Thanks!

  Hi Robyn,
I don’t have any experience with the current Pentax camera, but I don’t know of a reason that the hotshoe to PC adapter shouldn’t work. You might want to try the adapter on the other camera, see if that works. There are several radio slaves, including inexpensive one from China, but these still use the hot shoe. So double checking the connector looks like a good idea. For more check out this article on sync: www.siskinphoto.com/magazine4c.html.
Thanks, John Siskin

You may have a model that is like one of the Minolta models I noticed one time. The connector points on your hot shoe may not being touching.
On that minolta camera, they had the connector points set in their own way, this made only a minolta flash able to work in the hot shoe. Simple alignment problem.
Just look at the hot shoe and see if the contacts look like they'll line up with the plain centered contact of the adapter.
If not, you may just need to turn the adapter around, slide it back a little.
If it still doesn't work, the hot shoe may be made so that a generic contact doesn't work. And you need something from Pentax.
