Photography Question

Ben F

Which Canon lens would YOU choose?

Out of -
the Canon EF-S 17-85mm
OR
the Canon EF 28-135mm.

I am wanting to buy one of these lenses, and cannot make up my mind.I've read all the reviews etc, they both sound like really good lenses.
I am mainly wanting to use it for portraits and candid type snaps of kids and pets, but id like to be able to use it indoors AND outdoors, and for landscapes etc as well if possible. The 17-85 is slightly more expensive but that does not bother me as it is not out of my budget. I'm finding the decision making really frustrating and am wondering if anyone can please help with their opinion.

Thanks so much in advance!!
Ben :)

  Hi Ben,
My friend has the 28-135 and it takes nice pictures. The 17-85 would be better for landscapes though. The wider the better for landscapes. I would belly up the $$ and get either the 24-70 f/2.8 L or the 28-105 f/4 IS L myself. I have the 24-70 and it is simply incredible. The 24-70 and the 70-200 f/2.8 IS L are my best 2 lenses. I have 3 other L lenses as well. It really is worth the extra $$ and will last you for a very long time. You can also rent any of these lenses and take them out for a day (if you have a local camera store) and see what works for you before making a decision.
