Digital Rebel XTi Macro Lens? Ok, so I have a Digital Rebel XTi camera, and I want to know what macro lens I should purchase. There are six Canon macro lenses that I know about, but what I want to know is what one gives the most for the money. Being a 15 year old means some money restraints, although I might be able to get my dad to help me out a little. Thanks So Much, Lisa Car

Hi Lisa! I recommend the Canon 60mm macro lens. It's very sharp, gives excellent detail for macro shots, and you can also use it for portraits and general purpose photos if you want, because it is better quality than the kit lens. Good luck and Happy New Year!

I think you will find a different opinion from everyone! I like the 100mm lot! If is one of my favorite Canon lens! It lets you get just far enough away to let better lighting in. Just my opinion!

Lisa, I'm thinking looking at the fact you might shoot creepy crawly things the 100mm might be best can't get as close. The 60mm is great as well but is a little tight for portrait work. so maybe head down to a good local camera store and try both...

Yeah, a 100mm macro is preferable for nature photography than a shorter macro lens. Canon, Sigma and Tamron make 90mm and 100mm Macro lenses. Check prices at www.bhphotovideo.com You can get high magnification without the need to move in extremely close to the subject. Less risk of scaring off an insect or of casting your shadow on the subject. And you have more space to use a reflector panel or off-camera flash. Cheers! Peter K. Burian
