Photography Question

Rachelle P. Cooper

Do I use both the omni bounce and pullout diffuser

So I have the Canon 580ex flash that has the pullout diffuser on it.. and I also recently purchased the omni bounce to help my photography since I do alot of indoor photography. I was wondering if when using the omni bounce, do I still use the diffuser as well...if not when do I use the diffuser, do I use it all the time no matter what the situation ( indoors, outdoors ect.)???
I have a session tomorrow.. so comments would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks

I don't have the 580ex or the omni bounce ... but I'll give it a shot until others with more of this type of experience chime in.

Using both will limit the output of your flash unit. That means your flash will have to work harder, and it will use up battery juice faster.

I suppose you'll be just fine using the omni bounce only.

to use the omni, stick it on the flash and point the flash head up at a 45 degree angle.. to use the built in diffuser, ..... I dont..lol if im not using a diffuser I bounce . either off a wall or off the ceiling..(if they are white!) the diffuser on the flash really isnt that great, actually, a doubled up tissue tapped to the flash does a better job IMHO!
