Where did you get your camera from. I can't help you with the bracket, but I just ordered the same camera on-line from best price camera

I bought my camera at best buy several months ago. I like buying from Best buy because of the warranties that they offer. I had a problem with my previous camera that I purchased from there and I was able to take it to the store and they replaced it the same day.

Rachel, there are a number of companies that make flash brackets; probably the best known brand is Stroboframe. Having owned a couple of their models, I then switched to one by Custom Brackets (that's the company name) - their "Junior" model is far sturdier and better build (and more expensive) than the Strobo's.

You can check B&H's website - they carry just about everything - just to get a sense of what's out there.

Meanwhile, remember that besides the bracket itself you will probably need to get a special cord to connect the flash to the camera electronically. That is, one end of the cord is meant to go into the camera's hot shoe, and the other is mounted on the bracket with the flash attached to it. This way, the automatica functionality of the flash is not lost.

Thank you for your responses. I currently have a bracket that I like but it keeps quitting in the middle of shoots. If I take the flash off and put it on the camera it works fine but it will not work on the bracket for an entire shoot (about two hours usually).

Rachel - I don't think your problem really has anything to do with the bracket. The problem would have to be with the camera, the flash cord, or the flash.

I have a bracket, Canon 420EX flash, and Canon off-shoe cord. I used this setup many times with my Digital Rebel and never had a problem. The first time I used it with my Rebel XTi, I had the same problem as you. It worked fine for a while, then the flash quit firing. It worked on the camera, but not with the cord. I bought a new cord, but haven't really put it to the test yet, since my shoots lately have been with natural light or studio strobes.

I think the problem is something within the camera's flash circuitry, since I didn't have the problem with my previous camera. I'm going to do some more research to see if Canon has posted anything about the issue.

By the way Mandi - do a search here for bestpricecameras and you will find that they have one of the worst reputations among online sellers. They are a bait & switch ripoff operation. Did they charge you extra for the battery and charger? Did they email you asking you to call them to "confirm your order"?

Cancel your order if you can. You won't get the good deal you think you are getting.

Rachal...just buy the Custom Brackets CB Junior from B&H...I left mine on SouthWest Airlines (looking for the girl with the too short skirt...she wasn't there though) so I had to borrow a Stroboframe...it was so bad I broke and bought 2 CB Junior for me and my buddy.

Mandi...cancel the order, when I ordered 20 digital cameras they screwed with me big time...just get the thing from B&H.

  Chris and Oliver-
Just to let you know, I got my order not technically cancelled because they threatned me with paying 10% of the cost, than 20% of the cost, and than 25% of the cost becauses I was being rude. they told me that there was something seriously wrong with me, etc etc etc. Rude!!! I actually ended up having to go to hte bank and cancel our check cards and checking account and opening a new one. This was my first time buying on-line, and needless to say it will prob be my last. I will be buying my camera in a store so I'm for sure as to what I'm getting. Thanks for all the help! :)

Don't let one scam shop turn you off from shopping online forever. If you stick with online dealers with solid reputations, like B&H photo or Adorama, you will not be disappointed.

If you ever have a question about an online store, just ask us here, we'll be glad to give you our input.
