Photo Mats Ok, I hope someone can help me with this or even understand what I am talking about. I have the recent Michel Company catalog. In this catalog there are frames with mats that spell out Friend or Senior or Baby. I was wondering if there was a site or a catalog that makes custom mats that spell out names. Or is there some way to do this digitally in photoshop. I hope someone understands what I am talking about. It is basically multiple pictures centered in the letters. Please help!

What kind of 'mats' would that be, Lauren? The kind you wipe your shoes on?

Yeah, Michel Company sells mats that you wipe your shoes on!!!! Photo Mats. You know the things you put around a picture in a frame. Come on, I thought people on this site were smarter than that.

They don't all speak or understand your colloquialisms, Lauren. Quite the contrary: native American English speakers are a minority on the web. A minority in this world, in fact. About 5% max. to be exact. You seem to forget that all too easily. So, indeed, "people on this site are smarter than that".

If you don't understand my question, than why respond? This question was meant for someone to help me out if they knew what I was talking about. Obviously, I am not as smart as I thought I was because I assumed that people on a photography website would know what a photo mat was even if I wasn't speaking english.

"If you don't understand my question, than why respond?" It's called 'manners', Lauren. Do you understand why now?

I explained my question the best that I could. There is no other why to explain it. It is a photo mat that goes into a photo frame. It spells out words like Senior or Baby or Friends. Michel Co (which is a company that sells albums and folios and frames) sells the frames with the mats that say Friends, Baby and Senior. I want a mat that is customized to spell out someone's name. Like Lauren. The pictures go behind the mat in the exposed area of the letter. So the L would have a picture behind it, the a would have a picture behind it, etc. If not, I wanted to know if their was a plug-in for photoshop that I could use to make my own mat that is similar. I hope that cleared up the confusion. Next time I will take into consideration that not everybody understands english.

Lauren, I rarely agree with W.S., however, in this case I have to agree with him. I found it very difficult to understand what you wanted. I went to the Michel web site and found all manner of supplies that seemingly fit the bill for you [as I read the original message.] I did note that the offer was made to professional photographers - so, if I were interested in these products, I would have called or written the firm to find out if there were restrictions for amateurs. As to creating mats digitally, how would you print them on a standard printer - or, am I missing something. One thing you might try is increasing the size of the canvas size and using the freed-up space to creat your message with the Text Tool.

They sell mats that say Friends, Senior and Baby. I want one that is customized to spell someone's name. These mats go on top of the pictures. The letters are cut out so that you can see the picture underneath the mat. So I was thinking it couldn't be that hard to do this in photoshop by creating a layer and adding the text. I don't know how to do that to where the letters can have a picture inside of them. I knew this was going to be complicated to explain. But I figured someone on here whould know what I was talking about. Here is a picture from Michel Co.
