Photography Question
Maria CAableiro

How to rsize a photo to a specific Pix.

I need to resize a photo to 320 pixels high and 240 pixels wide. My original 319 x 305 and I can't get it to this specific requirement. When I do it on a software the width ot height changes as I change the other. How can I do this?

With an image resizer app or an image editing app, Maria.

Have you got any?
If so, which? Running on what computer with what operating system?

Do you realize that resizing from 319 x 305 to 320 x 240 means you will end up with a distorted image?

Maria CAableiro   Thanks for your quick response WS.

Here is the deal. The picture is of my cousin who wants to apply for a visa lottery and he emailed me the picture from Cuba. It was taken with a digital camera. These are the State's requirement for sending the picture online, mail is not permitted.

Taking a New Digital Image. If a new digital image is taken, it must meet the following specifications:
 Image File Format:
The image must be in the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format.
 Image File Size:
The maximum image file size will be sixty-two thousand five hundred (62,500) bytes.
 Image Resolution:
320 pixels high by 240 pixels wide.
 Image Color Depth:
24-bit color [Note: Colored photographs are preferred, but black and white or grayscale photographs, if used, must be scanned in 24-bit
4
color mode. Monochrome images (2-bit color depth), 8-bit color or 8-bit grayscale will not be accepted]

Geez!!

I have tried Picasa2 and Microsoft Pict. Manager.

I have an HP Pav. 32 bit

Do you think that the best thing is for him to retake the picture with a better resolution cam?

Use the crop tool in one of your programs and type in the dimensions for height and width.
If you can't do it without cutting out part of his face, you'll need another picture.
If your program doesn't allow you to put in specific dimensions, than find somebody that has photoshop, paintshop pro, or something similar.

Those specs suggest they intend to use the pix in print (and they want to let you do much of the pre-press preparation).

Or you could post your 319 x 305 original here and someone here will probably post a 320 x 240 conversion within minutes.
Whether that 320 x 240 will be usable (because of the distortion) remains to be seen.
Literally.
