Repair and Service of Minolta Maxxum 300Si

I was at a function taking pictures when suddenly my camera's aperture closed and refused to open. Thinking that it was perhaps a power problem, I bought a new battery and yet the problem persists. What should I do and when could I get manuals to help me in trouble shooting.

Thomas, try going to www.minolta.com. For a long time I used a neighbors Minolta camera and it didn't come with a manual. They had the manual listed and it could be printed out for free. One of the few companies that don't charge for manuals. If your camera isn't listed, go through customer service; they will tell you how to find what you need. There is a couple of weeks before they answer though. But they do work well with you.

Thank you so much Debi for your advice. But unfortunately, when I visited the site, I don't seem to find any listed dealers in my country (Kenya) where I could take my camera for check.

After successfully downloading the manuals like you adviced me, I had the camera checked by a technicial who has diagonised that the problem is as a result of a a broken down motor called 'Capstan Motor' that powers the aperture drives.

My problem now is where I am going to find a replacement for this drive. I have checked in most camera shops in Nairobi and all tell me the same thing, that it is not available locally. So do I have to ground my only reliable camera?
