Photography Question

Mario Morel

canon 17-85 vs 28-138 (canon 30D body)?

Hello. I just wanted some recomendations on what lens to bring to this year summit. I've heard that when shooting in a big city with many high buildings, a wide lens is better but then it would be harder to get some candid shots. Also if I had the 70-200 2.8, what combination would be better? Thanks.

  Hi Mario,
I use the canon 28-135 lens for all around. It is perfect for Chicago.
Dont forget to walk down Michigan Ave. A wonderful place to window shop. You can go on top of the Sears Tower also. It is a lovely view. Your 28-135 lens would be great for that view.
Have a blast in Chicago. Ignore the guys in the white robes at O'hare.
Have fun, let us know how you liked it.
Mary

I can't image trying to get scenics and buildings without moderate wide angle. I would go with 17-85 + 70-200. 28 is just too long to be your shortest focal length on a 30D. IMHO, YMMV.
