Photography Question

Kevin Ekstrom

Identify this lens please!

Hi all,

I really could use some help with this lens.

Nikon Ais mount - 28mm MC 2.8 49mm filter thread. Serial number 40316.
Made in Japan.

There is no brand name on this lens. I hunted the internet and came up empty.

Does anyone have an idea of who may have made this lens? Maybe you may know of a sight where I can find this info?

Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Kevin

Could be any of several 3rd party makers. "MC" only means it's a multicoated lens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivitar lists Vivitar lens makers that can be identified by the first 2 digits of the serial number, but there is no match for "40".

  Jon,
Thanks for the response. I understand about the markings on the les. I know what the MC stands for.

I was giving the exact markings on this lens hoping someone may recognize the maker.

I thought maybe Kalimar or Soligor, but these makers clearly label their lenses. Someone told me J.C penny disributed lenses back in the day. Maybe this may be the route to check.

WOW!!! Further search confirmed J.C Penny did distribute lenses but they also clearly marked heir lenses with 'J.C Penny'.

I dont have a clue who made this lens.
