Leki Trekking Pole & Monopod Sierra AS

Hello All,

Does anyone have any comments on the Leki Trekking Pole Sierra AS (http://www.leki.com/html/trek_travel_2091.php)? This trekking pole has a camera mount on it and I want to know if it is possible to mount my Canon EOS 20D on it. This will help me out greatly on an upcoming 20 day backpacking / photo trip through the Sierras. Inquires are in at Leki but no reply yet. Any feedback on this product is greatly appreciated as I am not ready to drop $150 just by seeing the product on their website.

Thanks,
Matt

Great idea, but the price seems a bit steep. I bought a (Trek, Trekker?)hiking stick with a screw-off wooden knob, exposing a screw thingee that takes standard camera tripod sockets. Check out the poles at Campmor.com. A pole support, used by itself or in combination with leaning on a tree or rock may make the difference between a good and a great photo. I blew a beautiful field of wildflowers shot by not taking the effort to steady the camera to handle the slow shutter demanded by my chosen f16 in subdued light. Some of my shots in the Great Hiking... gallery on my site required steadying the camera, using some sort of field expedient.
