Wide Angle Lenses

What is the best wide angle lens to use on the Canon 20D? How does Tamron's
SP AF11-18mm fair? I notice Tamron has 5yr warranty's.
Thank you.

Hey Gaylen, I think you need to be a little more precise on BEST. How much money do you want to spend on the lens?

Price would be in the $500-$800 range.
Thanks for your response.

My vote is on the Tokina 12-24mm. Most review sites favor this lens as a wide angle choice for the Canon's with a crop factor.

Tokina AT-X 124 AF PRO DX 12-24mm f/4

This is a great site for reviews on lenses with actual reader feedback.

I personally used my 17-40 f/4L with my 10D (same crop factor as 20D) all the time as my wide angle and loved it. Just go down to the camera store and try this lens out...they'll have it and I'm sure you love it.

I also love my 17-40 f/4L as well. I thought I could use it as an excuse to buy a 5D if I want the wider angle!!!

  Thanks Suzanne & Oliver!
What I "think" I need is a wide angle to photo a group of horse people in an outside arena, from one end to the other.
From the press box it's still too close with my 28-75mm.

OK....got it. Check out the Canon 10-22mm lens.
Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens for Select Digital SLR Cameras
USA

Mfr# 9518A002 • B&H# CA102235EF

Price: $ 689.00

this only works for the Rebel, 10D, 20D 30D....nothing full frame so realize you wont be able to us it if you trade up to say a 5D or 1Ds version. I check on the other lens about that ability.

I'm surprised nobody recommended the Sigma 10-20. It has a much wider range and is so much fun! And I also believe it is way cheaper then the other ones. I think I got mine for $450.
Good Luck...

Not to split hairs too much, since the OP shoots a 20D, but the 10D will not accept EF-S lenses. That style was 20D and later.
