I think your 28-80 is for (D)SLR camera and the x.45 sounds like is for point and shoot camera. Am I correct? If so, then the wide angle adapter cannot be used on the lens. Besides, 28 end on the 28-80 is pretty wide enough for group shot. The people closer to the edges of the lens are distorted already. Hope this helps.

Because the sensor of most DSLRs is smaller than 35mm film frame, 28mm is not a wide-angle focal length on those cameras. If the wide-angle adapter has the same diameter mounting threads as the filter threads on the front of the 28-80, then they can be used together. However, as Andy pointed out, the 0.45x adapter is designed for use with the tiny sensors/lenses of point and shoot cameras. It is likely to vignette badly on your DSLR. The optical quality is likely to suffer as well.

Thank you Jon for pointing out that the 28 end on the 28-80 lens is not wide enought on DSLR because of the crop factor. My mind was still set on film camera since John did not mention what kind of camera he has. ;)

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback, sorry I didnt mention the type of camera,it is a canon 10d,i also have a sigma 24-70 would the adapter suit that one,iam new to photograpy but I enjoy taking portrait and group photos, and looking at a lower cost option than the expensive wide angle lenses

Any wide angle adaptor will greatly decrease the quality of images you get with any lens.

If you need to get wider than 24mm for a group photo, then you are standing too close to the group. Back up.

At 24mm, you will already probably get some distortion of the people on the ends, and wider angles will only make it worse.
